They need to know that
other generations of Christians are watching them and spurring them on
to good works in the Lord.
Click "read more" for the rest of the story. At Madison Street, we currently have 23 students registered on 6 teams to compete in the LTC Bible Bowl. To help them prepare, we've hosted "Mini-Bible Bowls" about every other month that focus on just 5 chapters of John at a time. From the beginning, we found that one of our third graders, Drew Kircher, is the one to beat as he consistently has perfect or near-perfect scores. "Who can beat the third grader?" is a phrase that motivates and inspires everyone to study and perform better at each practice.
Our most recent mini bowl was January 4th. It was our third mini bowl and our most successful yet! Fourteen of the twenty-two scores increased. Every individual earned a medal. Each team scored Silver or Gold. We had three new participants- Chelsey Morehead, Wesley Morehead, and Travis Gallivan. Wesley scored a Bronze and both Chelsey and Travis scored Silvers. That's an awesome beginning! We had a three-way tie for the highest score. Kiana Roberts, Rachel Shepler, and, of course, our undefeated 3rd grader, Drew Kircher, all answered 59 out of 60 questions correctly. Congratulations!
One of the best benefits of hosting these mini Bible Bowls, is that many of the people who have not been involved in LTC or youth activities for a long time are able to observe and "play along" while the participants are competing. Afterward, there is a food fellowship for everyone, an opportunity to compare scores with other observers, and the awards are announced. I would like to thank all of you who have come to observe and play along, on behalf of all the Bible Bowl participants, for your support by your presence there. Thank you for staying afterwards for the food fellowship and for your words of encouragement to the participants. You may never know just how much your very presence means to these children. They need to know that other generations of Christians are watching them and spurring them on to good works in the Lord. They need to know that you are proud of them for the choices they are making to study God's Word and find ways to serve Him. Thank you all!
Here's a breakdown of all the scores:
